Microsoft obviously did not buy RIM but instead provided significant funding to allow Nokia to switch from Symbian to Windows Phone. Same strategy - Microsoft using its financial resources/clout to quickly gain market share with an established player - though obviously a different tactic. With the recent removal of RIM's co-CEO's and a new management structure, such an acquisition may still occur, especially if Nokia does not perform as expected. Stay tuned.
